Solution

Main Meter and Transformer Monitoring

Track TEDAŞ day/peak/night periods in real time through the transformer used as the electricity main meter. With the sub-meter hierarchy, the risk of double counting is zero and cost allocation is accurate.

Common Problems
The most critical energy management challenges encountered in the industry

Double Counting Risk

When the transformer and sub-meters are summed together, energy is counted twice; cost figures become inflated.

Sub-Meter Confusion

Which meter represents the main consumption, and which the sub-consumption? Allocation cannot be done without establishing a hierarchy.

Missing Day/Peak/Night Period Tracking

Without separating day/peak/night consumption, tariff optimization and budget calculations remain inaccurate.

TEDAŞ Bill Verification Not Possible

If the energy data in the system is not compared with the TEDAŞ bill, losses and theft cannot be detected.

Solutions with Argus EMS
Real-time monitoring, automatic alarms and comprehensive reporting

Transformer = Electricity Main Meter

The transformer marked as is_ana_sayac=TRUE is the single source for all kWh, cost and projection calculations.

🏗️

Sub-Meter Hierarchy

The floor, apartment or tenant meters under the transformer are defined hierarchically; they are not included in the SUM.

Real TEDAŞ Day/Peak/Night Periods

Day/peak/night consumption is calculated from np_saatlik_ozetler according to the actual TEDAŞ tariff periods.

🧾

TEDAŞ Bill Comparison

The external bill kWh is compared with the system measurement; if the difference exceeds 3%, a loss/theft alert is raised.

Multi-Transformer Support

Multiple main transformers can be defined; each is tracked as a separate cost center.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why is the transformer used as the main meter?

Since not every panel in the field may have an energy analyzer, the transformer output measurement reflects the facility's actual total consumption. If summed together with sub-meters, gaps remain for the missing analyzers and produce errors.

How are the day/peak/night periods calculated?

Argus EMS, using the hourly readings in the np_saatlik_ozetler table, splits consumption according to TEDAŞ's current day (06:00–17:00), peak (17:00–22:00) and night (22:00–06:00) periods. The period hours are configurable.

How is it managed when there are multiple transformers?

Each transformer can be marked as is_ana_sayac=TRUE. The sum of all active main meters is used on a per-project basis. A separate dashboard and cost report can be viewed per transformer.

Can sub-meters be used for billing?

Yes. Sub-meters are used for tenant/apartment billing but are excluded from the total energy cost calculation. This is the most common structure in shopping mall and office plaza scenarios.
