Month 1

Baseline Measurement & Variable Definition

Existing meters are connected to Argus. EnPI variables specific to your facility are selected (HDD/CDD, production data, patient-days). Twelve months of historical data are loaded — baseline calculation ready.

Months 2–3

Data Flow & First OLS Regression

Argus collects data at 15-minute granularity. At the end of the first month, OLS regression is run and the r² value is validated against the ≥ 0.75 threshold. If the model is weak, the variable combination is updated.

Months 4–5

EnPI Target & Deviation Alarms

A target EnPI is set relative to baseline (5–10% improvement). When actual consumption deviates 10% from the regression forecast, an automatic email is sent to the site manager — enabling proactive intervention.

Month 6

Excel Report → Audit → Certificate

Annual EnPI report is exported to Excel. Baseline, target, actual, r² value, regression equation and monthly data table — delivered to the independent auditor. ISO 50001 certificate issued.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is required to comply with ISO 50001?

Industrial facilities with annual energy consumption above 1,000 TOE (tonnes of oil equivalent) are required to establish an energy management unit. ISO 50001 meets this obligation with an internationally recognised standard, simplifying audits and boosting export eligibility.

What is EnPI and how is it calculated?

EnPI (Energy Performance Indicator) is calculated by dividing energy consumed by an output unit: e.g. kWh/m², kWh/patient-day or kWh/production-tonne. Argus EMS builds an OLS regression model with your chosen variables to normalise climate and production factors — revealing true energy performance.

Does Argus EMS generate the auditor report automatically?

Yes. The annual EnPI report is generated in Excel format with a single click. It includes baseline period, reference values, monthly actuals, regression equation (coefficients + constant), r² value and target-vs-actual deviation table — everything ISO 50001 auditors expect.

Is integration with my existing meters possible?

Yes. Integration is possible with any meter or analyser supporting Modbus TCP/RTU or M-Bus protocol. Ready register templates exist for common models; for anything else the map is derived. No meter replacement is needed — a field agent is added to your existing infrastructure.

How does ISO 50001 relate to green building certificates?

They are separate certificates but they ask for the same data: measured, continuous and auditable energy consumption. The energy performance sections of green building programmes such as LEED and BREEAM expect a measurement and verification (M&V) record; ISO 50001 EnPI tracking produces the same record. The meter-level history held in Argus EMS is reported from that single source in both processes, so a green building application needs no separate data collection exercise.
