Frequently Asked Questions

Can gas be monitored without installing a physical meter?
Yes. In facilities with IGDAS AVE access, the distributor's main meter measurement (hourly/daily, standard m³) flows directly into the platform; no additional on-site device is needed. Since the measurement comes from the very meter that produces the bill, there is no reconciliation gap.
What is the K coefficient and how does it affect the bill?
K is the volume correction coefficient: it converts the m³ passing through the meter into billed standard m³ with pressure and temperature correction. Argus computes cost with K and the gross calorific value, so the figure on screen matches billing logic exactly.
How is the gas budget target set?
The heating degree-day (HDD) relationship is modeled from your facility's past consumption; targets are refreshed monthly against the season and actual weather. A cold month is then evaluated as a weather-normalized deviation, not an 'overrun'.
How do you track unit price changes?
The natural gas unit price is cross-validated from multiple sources; suspicious jumps — such as double VAT or a stale tariff — raise a warning. Cost is always computed with the current validated price.
In gas tracking, is m3 or kWh the basis?
Both together. The volume passing the meter is measured in m3, while the invoice is issued on the kWh obtained by multiplying the corrected volume by the gross calorific value. Natural gas tracking is therefore not reduced to a single unit: the screen shows standard m3, the kWh equivalent and the conversion coefficients between them. Budgets and targets are held on the kWh side and the m3 equivalent the field team is used to is derived through the same conversion — so both sets of figures agree.
