PM5310

With dual-port Ethernet (Modbus TCP) and RS485 (Modbus RTU) communication, measurement up to the 31st harmonic and 256 KB of data memory, the PowerLogic PM5310 is a strong option for energy monitoring and SCADA systems.

Integration with Argus EMS

The PM5310 connects to Argus EMS over Modbus RTU (RS-485) or Modbus TCP (Ethernet), and because a ready register template ships with the platform you do not have to work out a point map on site. The field agent polls the device every 60 seconds by default, writes the reading into a local queue first and then forwards it to the server over MQTT/TLS; nothing is deleted before the server acknowledges it. Hourly and daily summaries are derived from these raw readings, and the consumption and cost screens are fed from the same series.

When Is This Model the Right Choice?

It is built for main distribution boards and critical loads: alongside energy and demand, the basic power quality quantities are reported too. Reactive penalty tracking and compensation assessment become reliable from this level upwards.

Because it supports both physical paths, the choice follows the existing infrastructure: if an RS-485 line already runs inside the panel the device joins it, and where the network is ready Ethernet is used directly. On the serial line the polling round grows with the number of devices, while on Ethernet each device needs an IP address and a switch port.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is the PM5310 connected to Argus EMS?
It connects over Modbus RTU (RS-485) or Modbus TCP (Ethernet): it can join an existing RS-485 line or be read directly over Modbus TCP (port 502). The field agent polls the device every 60 seconds by default, writes the readings into a local queue and forwards them to the server over MQTT/TLS. If the link drops the data waits in the queue and is backfilled once the connection returns.
Does the PM5310 need a register map to be worked out separately?
No. A ready template with 43 points is defined in Argus EMS; you pick the template when adding the device and enter its address and slave ID. The point-by-point mapping step on site disappears, and the same model is read with the same template in every project.
Can the Schneider Electric PM5310 measurement be compared with the electricity invoice?
Yes. The measured kWh index is placed side by side with the invoice from the distribution company, and the distribution charge, YEKDEM and reactive items are shown separately. Bill reconciliation therefore rests on your own meter's index rather than on an estimate.
